The Small Munsterlander is a medium pointing dog with a brown-and-white or brown-roan coat, dropped ears, and a moderately long, slightly wavy coat. The outline is that of a versatile German gundog, smaller than the Large Munsterlander.

The Small Munsterlander is a German versatile gundog from the Munster region, used to point and retrieve on land and in water. It is a separate breed from the Large Munsterlander. The AKC lists it in FSS; the UKC classes it as a Gun Dog.

Temperament

These pointers are typically friendly, people-oriented, and eager to hunt. They need field work or long runs. A bored Small Munsterlander will find a scent trail.

Brush the coat weekly so the feathering does not mat, and dry the ears after swimming.
