The Tenterfield Terrier is a small, racy, short-coated Australian terrier with a wedge head, erect or folded V-ears, and a docked or natural tail. The outline is square and workmanlike.

A small Australian ratter who can share an apartment if walked; short coat, little grooming, and a ready voice at vermin and the hallway.

The Tenterfield Terrier is an Australian farm ratter, named for the town of Tenterfield in New South Wales. It is a separate breed from the Toy Fox Terrier.

Temperament

These terriers are typically bold, busy, and attached to their people. They will hunt vermin if given the chance and may bark to announce visitors.

Training

They learn quickly and will take advantage of soft rules. Keep sessions short.

The short coat needs only a weekly wipe. Use a harness on walks.

The breed is generally hardy. Patellar luxation and dental crowding can occur in small terriers; keep the dog lean.
